Love this.
I especially love the part that talks about how science is not a faith. Science is the process of experimenting and changing beliefs to match observations. Similarly, scientific research is conducted through peer review. When a claim is made, people are going to test and retest the claim to see if the same results can be obtained.
It honestly annoys me whenever someone peddling alternative medicine tells me I’m “blindly following the science faith”, how big pharma is out to kill us all and steal our money, and how [insert nonsense remedy here] is clearly the only way to go. Unfortunately being in cancer research I get this more often than I’d like. Ozone treatments, electrotherapy, peroxide treatments, bleh. In the end all it does is misinforms people and ends up killing patients and putting additional strain on our already fragile healthcare system.
It makes me happy to see reminders once in a while that there’s still rationality out there.
